You can tell the year (1971) by the 2nd number after DSA for most jackets. I've seen a few without this however.

Just to add my 2 pence worth on the patch. The patch (as also seen on Maverick’s jacket) should read Standley. The colours are incorrect as is the centre fork on the patch added to your jacket, and it should also have a thin red border around the whole patch if genuine. I’ve attached mine for reference - hope this helps.
