Shawn I checked your UK eBay store but did not see your Doniger listed . Also you list G1 jackets as Air force jackets you should be listing them as US Navy flight jackets .The A1 jackets are listed as Varsity jackets this is something different, and lastly MA1 jackets are listed as Harrington jackets definitely not . If you need help ask us we will help , the right title sells the jacket .

I figured the prices would go up as the level of detail increased, but didn't see a jump to $292.58 USD coming (for a size large)... Almost double compared to not long ago. Looks like it's time for me to start saving-up for one. I'm glad I was able to purchase the 5 jackets I have at the old prices.

Don't get me wrong.. I suppose a price increase was inevitable. Just a bit of 'sticker-shock' when I clicked the link. I noticed this original Doniger pic on 5-Star's FB page, and was wondering if it's one that Shawn actually obtained, and is patterning from? (I don't recall seeing it mentioned in previous posts):

If A Five Star jacket looked like that original pic I’d one in an instant, as many others here would I suspect.

Why do Five Star waist knits look so thin, as in height of the knit, and like the waist is from a jacket two sizes bigger than the actual jacket size? Compare the pic of the original and Five Star repro above.

And a pet hate of mine, why are these sized S,M,L,XL etc? The jackets have inch chest measures so use them!

Sorry, these comments are meant constructively. I think Shawn has made huge progress and should be applauded, but some of the little details that make all the difference don’t cost much if anything I think.

If you look at the pictures and the size chart, you'll see the jacket is actually sized by inch cest. I think the S/M/L/XL and so on is only used as a reference on eBay, because it will attract to the more general public like this. Seen the tab in the jacket is correct and is using size chest number, I don't give it too much attention.

Agreed on the height of the knits, though, they seem too short to me too.

After looking at the original and JC's Doniger, Shawn should adjust the pocket spacing wider than it currently is IMO, as well as making the zipper-boxes more narrow / taller like I mentioned previously, which would take care of the knit waistband width. I agree that something needs to be addressed regarding making the waistband fit more snugly across sizes as well.

As for the S M L sizing.. IMO, made-to-measure with a corresponding numerical size tag is the only way to fly with these jackets. Shawn always sends pics with a measuring tape across one's requested measurements to confirm before shipping. All 5 of the jackets I've previously purchased fit very well exactly as expected.

Shawn is very close to nailing this Doniger down. I’d definitely be interested in the finished product. Maybe if we collectively let him know how many of us are waiting for the final completion, it might convince him to concentrate his efforts on getting this one finished and ready for sale.

Just used the link in the earlier post and saved a Medium (??) Doniger to the watch list for now. Might start with that.. The collar is growing on me.. These are ideal for those who don't mind a bit of art on the back. Simon Williams might get another gig...

This jacket is tagged as a Bronco but doesn't come up in the search for a Bronco. Shawn. Hone your descriptions and titles and you will be on a winner Sir.

Couchy email him directly to make sure you get what you are looking for and get it made to fit you(with the discount no internal pockets , no commercial labels etc etc ) .With the amount of jackets you have it can it can be made to fit perfect copying one you love the fit of.They are certainly close to being a greatest bargain A2 with excellent correct details and custom lengths and fits which Platon will not do .

I would just PM Shawn from here to get an order going. That's how I ordered most of my jackets.... After the jacket is complete, Shawn will send pics before it ships out, and provide his PayPal addy for payment, or send a PP invoice.

Me too.

Mister "I'm not buying anymore jackets" is definitely buying one of these Donigers once all the little bits and bobs are ironed out. Plus I think it's bloody important supporting a maker (and member) who has really bent over backyards to try and make what he does better.

And who knows? Down the line if this is a success, maybe it'll spur Shawn on to pick up a beat up old Star, or Rough Wear, or Bronco, etc, etc and do his best to make a repro of one of them with this forum's help.

Look at the difference of what Shawn was making when he first joined here last year and now. It's quite incredible the progress he's made and he deserves our support. He also has the potential to change this hobby entirely if he can keep getting better at the rate he has so far. For rather awhile we've all thought we had to pay through the nose for a decent original contract A-2 but that might change dramatically if Shawn keeps doing what he's doing, and listening and learning and constantly trying to improve his jackets like he's doing now.

I've been hanging around this flight jacket scene for over a decade now and in all that time I've never seen a maker so open to taking advice and so quick to move on it.

Nice one Shawn
Dear @Smithy

Thanks for your great Compliments and support.
