Loving that deerskin Mr Proper, I’ve kept my order to a standard type 3 just omitting the inside pocket. Yours? Any mods?

Its only a Trucker style, not a really trucker like the Type 3. But
It won't be a real trucker jacket, but only gets the trucker style. I'll dare the color cognac with heavy cotton drill lining and I'm really excited.

Just an aside , I notice that 5* are now producing a Type B6 helmet .
The one used as a pattern came from me if I'm correct in saying @Shawn Ali ?
It looks good , just a small niggle the goggle strap snaps need darkening up a bit .

Mr Propers jacket designs are very complicated yet they flow .Complicated for the maker of the jacket ,the lines and the seams break all the rules of convention .But the outcome is a very interesting jacket with unique designs that are classic with out copying anyone else .Sort of I recognize the design but I have never seen it before if that makes sense . Mr Proper is designing what you do for a living ? .

Maybe someday, but there are some who already have more than me ;-)
Advocate only in the case that someone knows what they're getting into.
If someone knows exactly what they want, can describe it down to the smallest detail and is satisfied with the choice of leather and does not want to spend a fortune, then 5 * is a good choice. Otherwise, it is certainly better to buy elsewhere.

Unfortunately, I'm not a designer (even if I might sometimes like to be) but a copier.
I rarely copy 1:1, but make a complete work with a "best of" of different details. With this jacket, however, it is a 1:1 copy because I wanted to try it out. It was an experiment.
And of course I also realize that many of them don't like my "creations" either. Tastes are just different.
The main reason why I am a 5* customer is that, with my dimensions, almost nothing off the rack fits me. So if I want a jacket to fit my imagination, then all that's left is made2measure or alterate it afterwards. I do the latter with fabric clothing, but I don't have a good leather tailor.
And if I'm already doing made2measure anyway, then I can contribute my ideas right away. And Shawn is up for any idea and it's fun to implement it together with him.
And if I'm wrong with my ideas, the financial loss is limited.
I also have jackets from Aero and Field Leather, but I have long waiting times and can only let off steam in the details to a limited extent.
If I had standard dimensions, I could switch to the used market or choose from tens of manufacturers.
So I am a rather small target group with my needs.
And for that I am grateful to have discovered 5* here in VLJ.

Hey, forgive me if this isn't the place for this, but I wanted to thank yall for posting such in depth reviews and details of the jackets Shawn has made. I just joined this forum (first post WOO!) and was hoping yall might have some advice for ordering a custom jacket from Five Star.
I've had a Pakistani made cowhide A2 for about 5 years that's held up wonderfully, but its about a size and a half too big. And after seeing what Shawn and his team have accomplished for yall on this forum, I've decided to pull the trigger and ask him to help me build my dream jacket. I've talked with Shawn already, and he says he can accomplish my ideas, but i wanted to check and see if there's anything im asking for that might not be great in the long run.
Basically I want to take his G8 pattern and add A2 style snap button pockets (w/ handwarmers) to make a (imo) more functional Indy kind of jacket. Main reason I dont get an Indy pattern is the back flaps that make you look like a flying squirrel, but i do like the available adjustment straps on his G8 pattern.
Currently planning on going with his semi-veg tan seal brown steerhide, black thread, and a silver talon zipper.
Anyone have any thoughts, recommendations, or tips? This will be my first custom garment ever, so I'm a little out of my element. I followed the measurement guide on Five Star's site and double checked everything 10 times, but im still a little worried about the fit.

Welcome to the board. My recommendation, if you’re sticking with Shawn’s offerings, would be to buy one of the following: Dubow, Poughkeepsie, Star Sportswear or Rough Wear. Apart from the Dubow, all of these are in development and should be released soon, but they’re all patterns taken from original WW2 jackets, so they’ll be a cut above his previous jackets in terms of accuracy.

G'day and Welcome! Get a FS Dubow in goat and a new contract in horsehide and just wear them or paint/patch in accordance with you wishes.... save a fortune and get 'the look'.
