Just a suggestion
You might consider not wearing a watch or taking it off when pulling your knit sleeve cuffs on and off, as it’s tough on the knits and if you have any sharp corners or edges is can snag your cuffs . The watches of the 1940 s like the A-11 were very small by today’s standards and didn’t damage the cuffs most of the time .

This one was specifically tanned for the Dubow contract.

Does the leather have a “squeak” to it? The goat jacket I have sounds like wet tennis shoes on a linoleum floor.

No it has a "dryer" finish than some of the more waxy ones so I don't find it squeaks at all.

Good morning Gents,my first post here so i introduce myself...i am Martin ,49 years ,from Berlin,germany ,actually i own the Platon Dubow A2.size 42 which fits me nice with a t shirt.
Any lucky owner of both Dubows ,platon and 5 star here?The measurements of the 5 star looking good especially a little more back length.For shoulders the Platon is 18 inch in 42,the 5 star 17,5....any visible differences or in feeling? Or just measured different? On pictures the shoulders on 5 star looking correct and relaxed... I need exactly the 18 inch in shoulders...and i want the 5 star Dubow . Thanks for help.All the best!

I just got my Five * Dubow in yesterday. I gotta say DHL is on the ball.... Shawn mailed it on Monday, I got it on Thursday... Lahore Pakistan to Chesapeake Virginia ...impressive.
I have to say Shawn out did himself on this jacket... the build quality and details are outstanding
the fit was spot on according To the numbers sent. Remember...what you send him is exactly what your going to get.
My only concern was the width of the sleeves... they were quite large..so I did the unspeakable, I soaked the arms n threw it in the dryer.
Well I gotta say this jacket fits perfectly and is damn comfortable. The sleeves are the correct length and no pia square shoulders..lol
Just few pics..I’ll send a few more outside in natural light. Thanks for a great jacket Shawn....I’m seeing another A1 on the horizon.

Hahah....magpul...can’t go to wrong. Although I do prefer old school GI aluminum...just don’t dent them.

Have an Otter Defender and a Magpul for my S9. The Defender is great. Magpul out field.....

I'm about to order one of these Dubow but size chart makes me a little hesitant. I'm a regular 42 in all my jackets, but the measurments on Shawn's chart shoulder to shoulder doesn't match at all: on the chart shoulder to shoulder is 44,5cm. On my eastmans 42, when i take this same measure, i have 48cm. The only on Shawn's chart with this measure is the XXXL sized one.

All other measures of the 42 sized one fits me, only this shoulder measure, quite strange.

Five Star Leather, weird armpit wear, advice appreciated

Hello everyone, I’m not sure if anyone else has had a similar experience, but I just wanted some advice regarding the following leather wear pattern on the under arm and armpit areas of my five star g-1. This is the only place in the jacket that appears to wear away; very odd. I have a theory...

PSA, please be advised that Five Star's normal goatskin will fade like this...
Please ask Shawn for leather that will not 'faux' age if you do not wish for such an effect.

Please note that the issue with my jacket was a mistake of type of leather used; and not an issue with the quality of 5 star hides.
So, everyone please be sure to tell Shawn that you wish for non-distressed leather.
Shawn is taking responsibility for his mistake and is correcting it.

I hope Shawn makes some adjustments to the goatskin he uses after this. In the meantime, you might consider Burt's trick for tackling high-point wear.

if your size 42 Eastman A-2 fits you good, send Shawn the measurements for it And he can custom make one for you with those measurements. That’s what I did with my Doniger, I sent him the measurements for my Platon Dubow . Hope this helps.
