I really don't get the boot thing. My son is into boots and I inherited some Thursday Indiana Jones type boots that didn't fit him. They look nice but as actual boots they're kinda silly! They weigh a ton and are built with all sort of stuff you don't need- Goodyear welt anyone? It's weird- I'm obsessed with old for the most part impractical flight jackets but I can't transfer that OCD to boots.
I have a pair of Blundstone lace up boots which are waaaay better than the Indiana Jones boots. Light- last forever and very practical for actual use like in construction.
Going down the rabbit hole a bit I came across the Aldens- wow! Just don't get it- $600 for something that if you actually wear will wear out in a couple of years?
I guess I'm lucky- flight jackets have been a life long struggle- don't need another strange obsession.
Lucky for me the Thursdays didn't "take". I find the Blunnies infinitely superior.

I guess this comes as no surprise to me.
I've been wearing boots regularly since high school in the 70s. Maybe it's the support they give my flat feet and weak ankles -- or maybe it's just because they look so cool.
Different strokes, but Chuck Taylors just don't look right with flight jackets.
Then again, my old SL 72s made a statement with my M-65.

Yes- I wore boots in high school 1968-1971 and beyond. Frye boots, all sorts of Red Wings, Vasque, Chippewa, Georgia etc., etc. But I wore them and then let them go- boots that cost $300 to $600 now. In the 90s I discovered Australian boots when I was actually working construction. Never looked back- I'm grateful
BTW- this is actually the look I go for with the flight jacket- Japanese cool guy! (As far as an old white guy can pull it off)
Sneakers look pretty good with this flight jacket...

It is exactly the Goodyear welt that allows you to resole and resole and resole - and then re-welt and resole and resole and resole your boots. So not exactly a couple of years - rather a couple of decades.

Saw his review when it first hit -- it would be nice to be able to nail down a production timeline for Corcoran and when they may have (or have not) changed their production process.
I'd like to know if mine (a few years older than this pair) are constructed similarly.
Nonetheless, mine are pretty sturdy and I doubt will crumble any time soon.
