Any ideas on the maker of this one?

Olive drab stitching, larger ring snaps, very slightly curved pockets corners and angular pocket flaps says Poughkeepsie to me.

Yes, it could be an Aero, Grant and yes you are right about the bottoms of the pockets. However I have owned Poughkeepsie with similar pockets. Anyway its a nice jacket and now its been flagged up here it will fetch good price I guess.

I guess Poughkeepsie had radically different pocket shapes for their one contract then. Maybe some of the folks who worked in Beacon moved up to Poughkeepsie? LOL

Here's a photo of a nice Poughkeepsie I used to own.

I have enlarged the photos of the jacket and spotted the zip reinforcement stitching which most Aero contracts had and Poughkeepsies did not have. So Aero seems most likely now. There was discussion sometime back about a possible connection between Aero and Poughkeepsie. The last contract Aero and the one Poughkeepsie contract are quite similar and made at the same time.

Here's a picture of a Poughkeespie pocket from a size 42 which I owned a couple of years ago. There was clearly variation in the shape of the corners from rounded to almost square.

Gents,

Yellow/Green colored thread, much like the "Khaki", OD #3 color of many military garments at the time. Also, the stitch line that comes down from the top of the lining at the neck and would have gone on around the label... make me suspect, Poughkeepsie. Square pocket flaps as well as square bottom of pocket body also lend themselves to this conclusion, but could also be Aero. Just MHO, but I have been studying these for a while and considering a "branch out" into the WWII A-2 manufacturing business, starting with a descent mid-price Poughkeepsie with the help of our resident expert at GW!

Just my two cents as it were,

Cheers,

DD

Pough's seem to show up often with Brass Talon zippers, however they also show with Nickel as well.

Case in point, from Acmedepot

Well that's the most exciting info to come out of this thread. I hope that the decision making is all positive, and we get an announcement soon.

....... Go for it, Dave.

Guys,

What's the protocol here wrt posting links to active ebay auctions? Is there a prohibition like at TFL? In the past there hasn't been.

Corey,

There is not a restriction here... this is kinda like the "boys room", excepting our couple of female members of course.

Deeb,

Thanks for the vote of confidence! I hope that it is possible for another "mid-level" maker to come on the scene. I am hoping to do so but featuring a really solid pattern, as opposed to some of the other makers, and still at the 500 to 700 dollar range. John has been EXTREMELY generous with his time and guidance in this project. News to come when I have some.

PS. I stand corrected, the jacket in question from the original part of this post, is indeed an Aero, Per JC.

Ciao!

I'm sure there's a market there, and good luck with the project. We'll wait for the announcement .... as jacket collectors we've all learnt to have patience. ;)
