Aged Roughwear by Goodwear

I have 3 Goodwear A2s(not including my m422 and the two shearling jackets) But I like the idea
of putting the jacket in the dash of my car. We get the most sun of anywhere in the world, according
to a sun map I saw in the energy office, so it ought to work on one of my jackets quite well.
But I wonder about other damage to the knits or lining. But like I said the sun here is FIERCE.
Its already 100 degrees the last two days.

Thanks Everyone. I have worn that A-2 every day I could and left it on the dash of my car so the sun could do it's part.

Im impressed. I see all these fellas from England and Europe where it looks like jacket weather all the time, I get depressed to think in Florida there are too few jacket days.

You have given me new inspiration. Jacket looks great!

Very nice indeed...CBI I don't mind wearing a couple of yours for you...give me them for a couple of years!!
Seriously wearing one jacket routinely is the way forward as otherwise it is a struggle to break several jackets in at once,I like to wear mine hard regardless of price, just take care of them when required ie allow to dry and apply Pecards if needed,no hwt for me but rain is a must

I definitely agree, when my GW RW 27752 arrives in the next couple months that should be it for me on the A2's....my ELC RW 27752 and ELC Pear Harbor will most likely be sold on as well as my ELC G1 and BK G&F M422a as I have just acquired what I would say, a near mint original LW Foster 7823(AER) G1 in a size 46" which is most definitely going to be a keeper as it fits perfectly.

So just down to one A2 and one G1 will be the way forward I think.........oh and maybe an A1 at some point also. :)

Very nice jacket. Looks fantastic!

I have to say that over the last few years I have widdled myself down to 1 Goodwear A-2 and a ELC B-10. I wear and enjoy them both. My A-2 is starting to get that salty aged look as well due to having and wearing just one. I realized I just did not need 15 repro jackets. I just picked the 2 I enjoyed the most and sold off the rest. I have to admit, it was not easy to do! My personal passion has always been collecting original A-2 jacket groups so I decided to primarily focus on that.

When I put my A-2 on the dash I zip it up to save the lining, the neck area gets faded but don't the original A-2's fade there as well? And I do flip it every other day. Now mind you I do this for about a month not all summer long as I worry that the thread will rot.

Wow, want one of those! Must admit my 3 year old GW Doniger is 'wearing' nicely, the leather is burnishing really well over the studs and on the seams etc but I love it so much I tend to save it 'for best'!! I might try the dashboard trick though - never had the guts to do the HWT but I'll make sure the car is not in public as I dont wish the jacket to stolen nor the car to be broken into!! One minor issue here - in the UK the amount of sun we dont get might therefore take considerably longer to have anywhere a similar effect!!!

cheers

Hey everyone, looks like I'm putting this A-2 on Ebay. It's just too small for me to be comfortable. It's marked a 42 but fits more like a 40. John out did even himself making this jacket, using the Japanese Russett Horsehide then re-dyed as the AAF would have during WWll. I must say the hide is stiff and squeaky. I'll get the meassurements and post them. For reference I'm 5feet 9inches and weight 156 with a 33 inch waist.
Thanks,
Robin Bailer
