I never claimed i would be an A2 expert.

Well anyway there is ways to phrase your statement a bit more "poliet" and i would have expected that from fellow forum-members - especially on VLJ ... ;)
Absolutely, Thomas. It is not impossible to get our point across while being polite and considerate….

I think your new depot redye, Great Escape style Rough Wear A-2 looks brilliant!! It will look even better with some wear and when it softens up.

I look forward to seeing you in this alongside your beautiful USN collection!

Thomas,
You are opening a discussion just to present your Pakistani product with exceptional leather as "magnificent", it seems to me that we are no longer children who must all applaud frantically. In short, it seems healthy to me to also accept criticism. And it is not a question of the price of the product, but also of its realization.
If the only alternative is not to have to say that we do not like it, in short, to write nothing just to not offend, then it is no longer a forum, but a fashion show of young girls and influencers.
And my initial formula was precisely intended to be polite without using crude words.
Have a good day everyone!

I'm 100% your opinion a forum is an open space for everyone to express his thoughts - it is just the way people do it ...

Maybe i`m not competent referring to A2 jackets but at the same time it seems to me there is a lack of competence in terms of "social interaction" on your side

Since it's a gift from your wife I won't say anything about the quality of this thing. Except that you really don't know anything about A-2! ;)
As a Pakistani proverb says: "Never look a gift-horsehide in the right pocket ;)

The value of any item is in the eye of the beholder. Thomas has a very cool, supportive and thoughtful wife as well as a nice jacket that HE is happy with. That's a great Christmas in my book ;)

Hello Thomas
Please allow me to chime in only because of the reference to the BR and RMcCs you made.
First, what a sweet intention/gift and surely wife..
Very thoughtful and full of love for sure…
My wife eg only gifts me with the info.. oh BTW you are now sponsoring with a monthly check , another in need child ( in some godforsaken country)…
However the reference to BR and TRMcCs to be in a better cost/value ratio is quite subjective.. IMHO..
The 5* hanger and label are way off a Japanese makers repros.. just one little eg.
All the sentimental value of your present is the highest grade.
Kindest to both of you..

Wow- be still my heart- finally I'm not the only one! Everything you say is so true- and really often, in fact most times, this forum seems just to happily glide along in the still waters of mediocrity. What Skyranger says about "knowing nothing about A-2s" applies broadly here if people honestly thinks 5-Stars are high quality anything- much less repros. Gizemos may show the way to that Geat White Hopw of a cheap yet accurate A-2 repro...

.......................its just an F...ing jacket.

.................and we wonder why its so hard to get new VLJ members.
Or why long-time members choose to stop posting.

Is that really the problem? Discussions? On a FORUM? Criticism? On a FORUM? I'd say that the same 25 people constantly saying "Great jacket!" and "Wow! You're really rockin' that!" is as much of a problem. Thus forum way back when was a far livelier funny and interesting place- there were al lot of personalities and and a lot of knowledge. Is it really that hard to get new members? Or is that because every time some poor schlub comes on there's a chorus of "Introduce yourself! We have rules!!" and "Are you trying to sell something?!" or "Are you trying to get free advice?"

I would never criticize a jacket photo because of how the wearer looks physically- fat, thin, skinny legs (that's me) etc. But the jackets are fair game IMO- is it really right to praise every jacket every time?
Exactly! It's just a fucking jacket! My wife and my coworkers used to be merciless in criticizing how a jacket looked on me- here we don't do that so much but we should be able to talk about the details of a repro and their accuracy. Thomas is obviously a well to do German man with a great wife- I don't think our critiques will wound him too severely!

I’m with most of you guys … you don’t have to have an original … or the most prized top tier repro to enjoy this hobby. I keep saying this over and over, when you walk down the street wearing, whatever A2 you happen to own …99% of the people aren’t going take notice or even know what your wearing or who made it . So Thomas ….enjoy your jacket… and wear the piss out of it !!
You're right Sir! As someone also said: Forget the rules. If you like it,wear it! (Fashion quotes)

Gentlemen,

just to get things right:

i'm happy with everyone's opinion and any discussion. I gave my personal "evaluation" of what i got in my hands and i probably have been carried away off the fact it was a gift from my wife. I respect and accept anyone elses own idea of what he likes/dislikes or whatever aspect he thinks differently about. I don't try to convince people to follow my opinion and i do not claim myself a specialist or guru or whatever.

Any pointers on inaccuracies welcome and accepted. We're on a forum with people sharing an unreasonable interest in old flightjackets. I learned a lot exactly on our forum and i experienced reasonable discussions. But i don't need anyone giving comments about my personal competences.

The point is how to "transfer" a personal point of view in a conversation/discussion without a given comment like: You really don't know anything ...
