My attempt to create as exact a copy as possible of an original 548th BS silk-screened canvas patch.
I first sealed the canvas with gesso, I mapped out the design and then painted in each colour in turn making sure to replicate the misalignment of colour passes which are typical of silk-screening. Outlining was done in black acrylic ink (applied with a brush) and watered down paint (grey lines). Finally, I gave it a coat of satin seal (the originally seem to have been finished with seal/varnish) and then cut it out.
The camera makes the canvas appear more textured than it is in reality. Original patch attached for reference.
