Absolutely...it should be nearly a dead ringer to this hide with a bit of age and wear.

Damn, look at that jacket!! Doesn't get any better. It's a mixture of the ruggedness of goatskin along with that translucence on the hide with USN jackets that makes them so special for me, just perfect.

I was not aware of there being quite so many choices for goatskin by Goodwear. The Mexican skins look great too. Did JC elaborate on the differences between the various options? Decisions, decisions!

JC seems to be able to find great sources. An additional choice and everyone’s responses confirm what we all know already; you can’t go wrong with JC’s advice. I’ve only handled one original USN jacket (Cagleco 7823 late 1950’s) but the one I am looking to from John is end WW2 ANJ3A which would be lighter in colour than the post war/1950s jackets.

Am wearing my Monarch right now so a different goat on this one too .

Expecting delivery of a Star 55J14 from JC shortly in this leather, really looking forward to it now. It just looks perfect for a G-1, really rugged, grainy texture, chrome tanned, very close to an original to my eye. I'm thinking it's going to drape really nicely.

I have a Perry A-2 in mind and without a doubt, I'll be asking JC to use the new Mexican hide, it really is something.

Glad to see someone else besides me loves a Perry! I think that's my next one. Can't even think about the hides yet...

Just heard from John last week, very very excited. There is a choice of leathers for the ANJ3A. I am humming and hawing between the new 2024 Mexican vs the Pakistani goatskin. Can anyone comment on their experience with either? Ultimately, I am more than happy to be guided by John's expertise, but interested in your thoughts as well (hoping he does not mind me reproduce this photo here).

Just got my Email From JC, my Knopf A2 is finally ready for me. Heres a few photos he sent of the finished product. It was worth the wait.

Its Italian russet horsehide, mid brown knits, cant wait to get it and break it in, took about 14 months from the day I put in my order, love the grain on this one.

Boy oh boy, is that one fine jacket, I bet you're excited! One thing I love about the Knopf contract - those nickel snaps. They really pop!

Yeah its just a matter of wearing the hell out of it, with winter not wanting to leave here , it shouldnt be a problem.
