What's the saying about paying peanuts??? Interesting how none of our more 'knowledgable' jacket heads ( with the exception of Ken) have bothered with this thread! I'm out!!

Because Aero & ELC and to a le sser extent Pike Broshad been getting slagged off for our price increases while AVI we being held as an another EU maker who didn't charge £600-£800 for their A-2s, Smithy knows all about this.

Ken, once again you can't blame the punters for not being thrilled with the astronomical A-2 price increases (doubling in under 10 years), and by the same token you can't blame those punters for looking for more attractively priced options. This is simple economics theory they teach you the first day you study it - put the price up too much/too quickly, customers will start looking for a better priced alternative. You seem to be annoyed that customers aren't happy with these price rises and that they won't automatically accept them. Customers have the right to question pricing and to not agree with it. Their wages haven't doubled in that period so why should they just accept that they have to pay double the price for something they want just because you say so?

There's a lot of evidence that with these huge price hikes several companies have gone past the pricing ceiling for what a growing number are willing to pay for the relatively simple A-2, that's also why others are seeing opportunities in the marketplace to meet a new emerging demand.

But I still don't think you've grasped another fundamental marketing principle, that slagging off/attacking the opposition will not necessarily stop potential customers from purchasing from them.

Most importantly though, doing so will not automatically make people purchase from you instead. It's more likely to drive some potential customers away from buying from you due to the ill will generated by the negativity of your attacks.

If you check Five.Star Leather's Amazon offers, you will find the "Bronco" jackets Ken was referring to as well... here completely with Bronco label.

Best regards,

Ties

Ties do you know if this is the exact same jacket? The reason I ask is that the listing mentions an inside pocket something which the AVI LTHR jacket doesn't have. The label also looks different and the epaulette placement doesn't look the same.

Brass zipper... Carr snaps? Single ply knit? As we've seen, (over and over) you don't always get what the picture shows... But hey, go ahead people, buy whatever you like.

Hey this is great news... If every factory in Pakistan is starting to push out original maker A-2s of very relative accuracy, at these prices, we will all have a closet full of WW2-like jackets to choose from. If you're after an A-2 get one of these instead of modern repro and then go to an airshow in the US with he change.
Still I'd rather get one from someone who has some sort of quality control going... Wait till AVI introduces their Perry, then we will start to see more Perry-labeled 'bomber' jackets all over Ebay and Amazon. Exciting times.

From the Amazon listing, I noticed this: Date first listed on Amazon: October 27, 2017.... just close to a month before the review at the FL was posted... If the pics were not changed, how could these 'Broncos' have flown under the radar at around the same time as AVI released theirs?

Doesn't look like it has the details of the AVI LTHR nor the same pattern.

I was not comparing it to the AVI.
I was comparing it to the jacket that Ken found on Ebay and declared as a Bronco (and suspects to be an AVI)...the Ebay listing uses the exact photo than Amazon, only with a 5-star label photoshopped on top.

If this is the stuff that you used to get from AVI? I don't care...
If these are leftovers from a prototype run for whomever? I don't know...

For the price, despite all economical, ethical or political hurdles one might see, it looks like a decent every day wearer for hot water treatment, gardening, nose art...

Probably because nobody who stumbled over the listing believed the jackets were the same due to all the lifted pics appearing all over ebay by similar vendors
Plus everyone thought the AVI jackets were made in Denmark

If I knew that the jacket would be exactly the same as AVI LTHR I'd go for it but I think I'll still choose to go with AVI to make sure I got an actual Bronco pattern, the Carr snaps, the M39 Talon and all the other little details and minus the inside pocket.

I'd like to see that come about. :) The one I had years ago was quite nice for the $$ (I posted a pic of it earlier in this trainwreck IIRC). Always regretted selling that one.

Me too. I don't mind who it's from, I just want to have the option to buy a good quality, relatively accurate A-2 for a good price.
