Drum-head service led by Capt. M. S. Ragan, Catholic Padre, at a pioneer flying fortress base in England, prior to the Crew's setting out on a daylight attack on Nazi-dominated Europe.

This is one of a series of posed shots taken for PR purposes at Bassingbourn. Most of those in flight gear were sourced from the photo lab including my old friend Joe Harlick who has had many of his photographs published postwar.

Nice.

And I even have Sweeting. Guess they didn't stand out like other boots do to me.

Beautiful series of color photos (4 pages).

A nice variety of B-3s. Mixed color, fully seal, everything. It must have been extremely cold though, there is one photo where the guy is wearing an A-2 in the cockpit, and you can tell he's freezing by looking at his posture.

Beautiful series of color photos (4 pages).

I saw this collection in fragments before, but all 4 pages together are a total eye candy. Its an impressive color document for its quality and subject. I often spend time calibrating and ''fixing'' the color with original images, but this series seems like HQ from the get go.

What strikes me is the deep milk chocolate color of those A-2's, not really seen or reproduced correctly on todays repros, just my opinion.
Some of the mouton color is also darker, not only from usages but overall, also not often seen on todays offering.

Still lots of details to analyze and figure out.

Thank you for sharing this Guillaume.
