What jacket(s) are you wearing at the moment?

I've only had the opportunity to try it on, but this NWT Buzz A-2 deck jacket just arrived in the mail. I'd been kicking around the thought of buying a Bronson or an original when this one popped up on eBay. It will be perfect for crap weather days that are too warm for an N-1.

3 degrees Celsius here this morning, with mild wind.

I wore the Gizemo B-10 with a flannel shirt and it did a better job than last time.

The cotton shell seems to be pretty good at keeping the wind at bay. I was quite warm but it also wasn’t really that cold.

Still, it looks and fits great!

The Bronson looks like it's a really, really nice A-2 for the money (around $105 USD IIRC). The only potential negatives for me were that knits are blended and the signed Ideal zipper box kept me from being able to replace the pull with a Conmar. BR's spec label and side adjustments look more like an original, but everything else on the Bronson looks very similar to the Buzz jacket. So close that I'd say that Bronson probably copied BR's interpretation.

looking great folks! Coolhand - great looking Foster but I hope your aren't questioned by a retired Marine! Could get dicey! Just say its your uncle's jacket! VMCJ-2 was such a unique EW/Recon unit! Did you buy this patched? Looks like there was some re-patching on it?

This is the exact reason I have not worn it out in public prior to now. It went on a donut run with it this morning and I haven't taken it off since.

I did purchase it patched. It was part of a large USMC focused collection that was being sold by the deceased collector's widow and son at the Heartland Militaria Show last June in Chickasha, OK. He had several great pieces, including an original AL-1 that I stupidly passed up. As far as I can tell, the VMCJ-2 patch has been moved from the right to left chest and replaced with the VMA-311 patch. I contemplated removing the sewn on female hook and loop panel, but I can see that a double post pin-back (pin holes are 2" apart in liner) has been removed from that area. Since there are holes underneath the hook and loop panel, I'm going to leave it be.

Thanks a ton Chris. I'd love to find an original in this condition, sans patches, like your's.
That won't be too difficult, even one in top condition.

I will say this, that original I've been wearing is very light but super strong, nearly 70+ years old and still going. I don't know if that's consistent with all Fosters but it's around half the weight of the Star I got from J.C.

Patches and 31°F temp be damned. Chris made me pull out the LW Foster after seeing his pics the last couple days. I've been hesitant to wear this one out due to the patches, so this is its first time.

What are you worried about with the patches? That jackets is a super cool wearer- at 71 now I regret not wearing my originals! This Foster contract is not that rare and it's not going to fall apart. It looks fantastic- wear it!

I think we've been through this one before ZuZu. IMO, wearing patches and insignia, especially of currently active military branches and units is viewed by many as a stolen valor of sorts.

I don't personally know ANY Marine veterans, who WOULDN'T have an issue with someone donning an EGA or unit patches when they hadn't served. I'd catch all kinds of hell if I chose to wore the jacket around them.

I envy our non-US members in that regard. It's pretty much a non-issue for them.
