What type of lining did they use ?Eastman winter lined A2, in upstate N.Y.View attachment 71486View attachment 71487
The lining is like the lining in an M41 jacket, soft, not itchy at all. Got this jacket second hand and actually dyed it a little more of a brown shade. It was just a little too orange like for my taste. Now it has more of a brownish red like an early redskin. What type of lining did they use ?
Blanket wool ?

Will certainly do so, thank you kindly! It would have been a great drive for you if you had carried on, up the rest n be thankful, that's the road behind you, and carried on to Inveraray,, maybe next time. Anyone heading up this way, gimme a shout and I can be your guide
Yeah, not counting Gary's copy, I've maybe seen it on one original that had that kind of modification. Seems like a neat one though. How much would you say it improves the warmth of the jacket?
It was 17 degrees when I left for work this morning so I put an A1 mechanics sweater on along with the A2 jacket. I dont think the lining makes much of a difference at all to me. It really isnt that much thicker than the cotton lining. Who knows , maybe the owner of the original Roughwear it is based on destroyed his original lining and thats all that was on hand at the time to repair it, or it might have been done post war after the lining was worn out. I got a good deal on the jacket so I went for it, dont think I could afford one brand new.Yeah, not counting Gary's copy, I've maybe seen it on one original that had that kind of modification. I can wear a 46 or a 48 in an A2, the 46s are more a t shirt special and the winter lined A2 is a r 48, just in case I need a sweater under it.Tatoo, I would also go for a deal for this jacket. It could very well be a quick fix, replace the cotton ASAP with whats on hand.

Wow Grant! That is a cool one! “… seen quite a bit of wear.” appears like centuries. How long do you have it already? I thought this model just came up max two years ago (?!?)Given the sleeves are not lined in wool, but regular cotton liner material, it's not significantly warmer. That said, it is nice to have on hand when it's a little chilly.
