I actually wear one of my A-2s over winter with this pseudo C-2 sweater thing I have and some thermals if there's no wind. Today was out of the question as it was a full storm.

But I must have acclimatised now, as there's no way I could have worn an A-2 during my first winter back here after Oz, but now no drama. My blood must have thickened ;-)

Belated layering report: Took the A-1 out twice this week under the Woolrich 3/4 coat, in temps of freezing or just below, with just a t shirt underneath. The combo performed flawlessly.

Here's a couple more shots of the coat, which is 80/20 wool/nylon blanketing, lined in plain nylon.

An extreme example- but the reality

This photo illustrates perfectly what you don't see in those set up crew photos with zipped up jackets. Tiny little upper bodies and big jackets. This example IS extreme- I'm also thinking that this particular crew had some weird collar treatment or possibly even a couple of theatre made...
