What jacket(s) are you wearing at the moment?

I've got quite a lot of pics of the Soviet MiG pilots from the Korean War and there's a lot of pics of guys wearing these jackets. The chest pocket configuration seems to differ, as I've got pics of jackets with 1 left chest pocket, 2 chest pockets and no chest pockets. If anyone is interested I can post some snaps.

Conventionally, four generations of these jackets are usually identified, it seems to me that on this forum in the section foreign jackets were pictures. The last pattern (the fourth, the one with two pockets with zippers on the chest) also continuously changed (some small nuances, details, leather type were changing) and those that were made earlier had better quality. I have such a jacket, it faded and aged nobly and has very nice leather. As soon as my retrain ends, I'll take a photos and try to publish here.
In Korea, earlier jackets were most likely used (with two breast pockets without zippers) and it is possible the same as on my photo, this is the so-called second pattern.
I am very sorry that Igor, Ken’s Russian partner in these jackets does not write on this forum. He is great enthusiast and has expert level and he knows all about these jackets. Every time we talk to him, I learn something new about them.
Here is one of his articles, it is in Russian, but you can use an autotranslator http://www.oborona.ru/includes/periodics/defense/2017/0713/161221857/detail.shtml

As promised here's a couple of images. First off I don't know the first thing about Russian flying jackets so someone like Dmitry will have to say what's what. All these photos are from the Korean War.

First off, Capt Minervin of the 16th IAP

Capt Borkach, 196th IAP

I've got quite a lot more photos but hopefully these will be helpful for now.

Just looking at those photos, that 2nd edition jacket with the one top pocket is the one that really catches my eye...

I think that need new thread for this, cause here members showing their own jackets and it would be better don't mix.
I’ll be happy later to support it with photos from my archive, if this thread will created and it will be interesting for members.

So as not to be offtopic - this photo was taken a couple of weeks ago, my Buzz B-15C. Very comfortable jacket.

Great photos, thanks for sharing Smithy. I've heard that soviet pilots had to actually ditch their uniforms and wear civilian clothes while stationed in China, as the Soviet Union was not officially involved in the Korean war. Your pictures of the some of the pilots wearing straw hats and no insignia seem to bear this out.

Yes of course or else they were wearing North Korean uniforms. It's also the reason why it was strictly forbidden for Soviet MiGs to cross the Yalu, and obviously why they carried either North Korean or PLAAF markings.

As Dmitry says, we should probably shift this discussion elsewhere before we start pissing people off, if we haven't already!
