Also, maybe it's just yours that I notice this on because it's had the most wear, even amongst the other seal Horween A-2's on the forum:

Yours seems to really have those purple undertones popping!

It's like Horween buried a little Color 8 underneath this hide. Just stunning.

I actually can't stop looking at it the leather is so beautiful!!

I think that's John's handywork, as I believe he hand-dyed it. @blackrat2 got a 16160 at around the same time and it had similar tones.

I think it's fairly close to the tones you an see on some RWs of this contract:

Beautiful examples, thanks Jan.

I'm starting to think there might be an element of the reaction of the Horween hide, maybe even the dual tanning.

Because I now notice it, very slightly, on Coolhand AND Saint Ex's recent acquisitions.

It's subtle at first but seems to become more pronounced with wear. PA's is another example, just this very subtle murky purple/eggplant glow underneath.

I think the translucence due to the chrome tanning exaggerates it a little as well. Definitely more visible in direct light.

Glorious.

You are a poet CK ;) You words transcend the beautiy of the jackets ! I'm not jocking , hard to find the good words sometimes , to describe " abstract" feelings like that .

Thanks!

Yes, Bogen & Tenenbaum made AN-6552s (AN-J-3As). They were all goatskin as far as I know. Not sure if this particular goat type is still offered by John. Not sure what kind it is, but it has a finish with some lighter brown undertones.

I’m a bit upset though, this is one of them that I can tell is starting to get a little tight around my midsection. Guess I should hit the gym!
Well , Who can tell the contrary especially after Christmas times !! be tolerant with yourself ;)
