I'm betting that group had those hoods many eons before the numbskulls over here. ;)

That's correct, Chandler!

The Capirote, which is the name of the pointed conical hat comes from the inquisition times. To this day, they are still worn during the celebration of the Holy Week / Easter most notably in Andalusia, by penitentes (who perform public penance for their sins) who walk through streets with the capirote.

Every brotherhood has its own colors.

Santa Barbie and her disciples…

It is possible that the KKK adopted it after the movie Birth of a Nation, where the custome department thought it might be a good idea to use the Capirote...

Don't sweat it, at least not with JC's stuff. He's told me he deliberately gets the leather wet before he cuts it, just to get any shrinkage out. TBH, I think the 18091 actually fits a bit more comfortably now that it's been doused: just a little bit more relaxed and easy-wearing.
John gets the leather slightly damp with a spray bottle and then dries in low heat dryer for a while. It's a subtle and gentle treatment to get out more grain and possibly give some shrinkage protection. I still don't like soaking any jacket because it screws up the knits and sometimes makes the leather worbly and bubbly. Just me.

Your 18091 looks the part perfectly!

Did they all take cover during a shower to protect their issued leather jackets during WW2… or is it now a veg / chrome tan leather and folks paying substantial amounts for good repro jackets thing?

Before there is a lynching or a knicker twisting, multi post response I had better state that I jest.

Perhaps.

Could see a meme stemming from this.

1943: Airmen in their A-2s in the Pacific taking refuge in a foxhole from enemy bombing above

2023: Man wearing repro A-2 runs inside on onset of light drizzle.

*just to be candid that 2023 guy is me.

I know the tune- I live the life! My A-2s I use during the 75% of the time here in Oakland where it is nice maybe a bit cool weather. Maybe fog. During ther winter I have a whole other obsessive line of clothing to wear- seafarers sweaters etc. ...
You are a lucky man to get to wear your A-2s so much! Though last spring was pretty great for A-2s here in the Northeast.
