Thanks for the pics.
I've only seen the Intrepid from a ways away, but the Lexington is just two hours from home and I get down to see it about once a summer. My favorite part about ships like this that they've made into museums is the cross section of history: the evolution, all in one place.

I used to wander over that side of town at least once a month, and then stroll down to Battery park. Miss it.

My uncle(RIP) served on the Intrepid during WWII but I have never been there. Never spoke to him about it but sent him the documentary when it came out around 2000. I'm told he watched it and was moved. My aunt and cousin have talked about going to see it for several years but I'm afraid her health will no longer allow us. Regrets.
Thanks for the pics!

Unfortunately the Navy just announced that my ship (USS ENTERPRISE) and all carriers made since can never be museums because of the costs and difficulties of dealing with the nuclear reactors. It is going to be a sad day for me when they turn the Enterprise into razor blades.

The kids on the Intrepid flight deck a few years ago. My father in law was surgeon on her (in the 60s).
