Try calling your local PO depot with the tracking number
Received 3 jackets from John in three shipments .. US to EU within the last few weeks.. thats what I paid as express shipping costs/ jacket… delivery within 48H/72H .. nothing else to pay.. … choose your preferences…. 35% taxes and import duty … waiting time endlessly without any given reason…and pay peanuts …or pay for couriers and thats it…But Im not paying an additional $150 to $200 for Fedex.
Yea, that's what I thought. It only has a $50 value on it so they will want £8 or something stupid. The light is hardly worth the candle. They will simply be assessing it for tax. Everything that is imported above a fairly low value should be subject to 20% VAT. Ditto any product or service within the country pays VAT.
Plus the handling charge, I was a delivery office manager with royal mail (34)years.Calling a delivery office when the item is in customs is wasting everyone's time, your tracking number at that point is worthless.Yea, that's what I thought. Thanks for the clarification and unique insight. The UPS team have said the same thing. Although on the app it says 'In Warehouse, Warehouse Scan" you would think saying something like 'In Warehouse - Awaiting HMRC Customs Approval' This way at least the delay is firmly on HMRC Customs, I would imagine this would reduce customer complaints a LOT. When you worked for RM what was your experience on how long customs took?Plus the handling charge, I was a delivery office manager with royal mail (34)years.Calling a delivery office when the item is in customs is wasting everyone's time, your tracking number at that point is worthless.
I left 17years ago and even then it was a crap shoot.in my days there was a team of post office guys casually glancing at packets/parcels and depending on how busy it was, everything was thrown through with no charges. It's different now as almost everything gets checked.if it's posted USPS it parcelforce or royal mail here who deliver.nightmare.Pay extra and you have a far better chance of getting it through unscathed, and definitely quicker. Thanks for the clarification and unique insight.
