Strange m422a jacket

I agree. There may be one or two original M422a's out there with blond mouton, but how they became to be so bleached is anyone's guess. Replaced? left to dry out in the sun?
Why anyone would make a repro based on this odd ball look is beyond me but what do I know.
I would have much preferred to see that jacket with a normal gold mouton collar, everything else I could live with

In a saturated repros/mil inspired market like Japan, oddballs and rarities becomes a way to wedge a new ''sale'' in the wardrobe of consumers and collectors. Japan has a lot of vintage mil stuff to play with from the beginning.

When I started to grow an interest into repros, I was put-off by some weird oddball jackets. Example: like a Mccoy N-3 with multi panels nylon on yahoo, I went yeah Mccoy is trying hard to invent and generate sales... like the infamous Buzz Superior Togs red knits B-10....

Yesterday I found this original on eBay.

Maybe that Church is just this, an oddball, but desirable for some.

Japan certainly has a lot of vintage mil stuff Dany, but yep the amount of oddball stuff, it appeals there, and a lot of the young are obsessed with being different, I've tapped a few good vintage jackets from there lately but only Buzz and Spiewak, saw some beautiful original B-15 jackets in Japan today

We found a few but there were over 50,000 made. I am sure there are more out there. I believe it was the dye from some of batches of mouton that was less colorfast.

The point is that it is a unique jacket to reproduce and totally historically correct. not a contrived or a fantasy jacket.
Why not make it? I think it looks pretty cool but since some people don't like it, why not offer a rust mouton option? That's why I make this jacket with blond mouton but offer Rust as well if desired.

As far as the zip goes, they advertise using NOS dead stock Talon. Probably an M-40 (Triple marked puller with a shield box instead of the sunburst). I agree the sale jacket has a repro zip. The listing photo could be an original. It is hidden so you can't see the shape. However the teeth don't look very hooked. In general I have not known Japanese companies to lie about stuff like that. Maybe the sale jacket was a prototype and they used a repro zip. Hard to say.

Here is the online listing for the new ones:

They copied my idea!! Just joking. Not sure the time frame of their production. I can say that I never saw theirs when I was designing mine. I don't know if they arrived at this idea like I did, or if it was something more of an influenced thing.

Y’know Johnny, when you post 4 posts in a row, those of us who have our notifications on get 4 notifications and, frequently, 4 separate emails. Would you mind posting it all in one post? If you think of more you want to say, you can just hit the edit button and add more.

Oh boy. I don't want to get into trouble naming all the inaccuracies on that jacket. Let's just say that's a fantasy jacket with subpar materials. I have to say though, if that liner really is Rayon, that's pretty cool material.

Sorry Jan, I was just adding a follow up and trying to do decent pics to add, the discussion veered off and got longer than I expected it to

I thought as much, plus it's all a learning curve to me as before joining the group I guess I didn't know as much as I thought I did
