I also have a Star A-2, but the tag in the pocket is long gone. It is size 40. Chet Willets was a liaison pilot in the 1st Air Commando Group. It is not quite in the same shape as Roughwear's jacket, but still in very good condition.

I'm a 44-46, so I haven't attempted to try it on.

Excellent! It's great to see some new photographs posted. When I first joined and began reading the old threads to try to learn something, nearly all of the posts had their images missing due to the Photobucket fiasco, which is a great shame. A lot of valuable educational archives have been ruined across the whole internet, so it's good to see some new material appearing.

That really is a gem. Leather can last under the right storage conditions. This must have been in a temp and comfortable humidity environment just waiting for you.

another light colored star a-2. i used to have some rudimentary info about clark, but dunno where i filed it. tagged a size 40, it fits more like a 42. the incised bs patch is the second one that was applied to the jacket. and, yes, it is a wearer.

Not trying to steal Roughwears thread, but I just wanted to contribute to the conversation with a couple of photos of my Original WWII Star A2. With the exception of 2 small nips in the knits, it looks like it was sent home new right after it was issued. What makes this one a little rare, is that it’s a near mint size 48. I can say that it’s a full size 48 that is even a shade large on me. I purchased this a few years ago from another forum member Saucerfiend and I’m sure a search will reveal additional information about this particular A2 if anyone is interested, as it was listed for sale here.
Just checked the pocket tag, has number 388 on the opposite side of the 48.

wow, that has to be, by far, the largest star i have ever seen, or ever heard of. it must have been made for mcarthur, but then he decided on a no name instead, as it offered more gut room.
