I have a set of WWII Impressions USMC khakis... now ATF are doing the USMC I MIGHT commit to a pair of original SGT chevrons.... excited..

Keen to see what you think of these... Any idea who makes them? Is it Replicaters in India...
Dragged out my WWII Impressions Marine khakis... I LOVE ATF kit but I think they have missed the mark with colours on these. The originals in my reference books are quite different to the ATF items. They appear to have matched the weight of the shirt fabric. It is thinner/lighter than Army khaki fabric.

The ATF Army stuff is amazing. I know they have a pic of originals.... My original Marine shirt is just like the WWII Impressions fabric too.....

Original cut ones are awful, i have a large sized pair. Just watch “Sgt Bilko”, the supposedly squared away ones look terrible. Even MacArthur couldn’t pull it off.
I’ll stick with my BR ones thank you very much.

Aye, I used to have some minty originals that I wore on occasion but while the waist fit well there was enough spare room elsewhere to offer a home to a couple of lodgers :D

No surprise, Rollin addresses and defends his recreation of the Marine khakis here:

Not sure if yours are from a much earlier batch, but (as usual) Rollin stands by his choices and offers his own collection for proof.

FWIW -- I spent many years in graphics and printing and know color correctors and pressmen can often get lackadaisical. While I agree that reference books are good sources, I'm often skeptical about true color representation (much as I am on web pages -- everyone's monitor is different). For instance, I have a book titled America at War in Color that has some terrific images, but the color of the different uniforms is all over the board. Too many variables from photo age to scanning (or litho camera photography) to color correction and printing.

The U.S. Rangers on the book's cover are all wearing M-41s and helmet netting that are a similar color to hunter green -- not quite OD-7, far from OD-3.

My Kay Canvas summer chinos from Soldier of Fortune arrived today and I'm as happy as a dog with two dongers!

These are terrific quality and I mean top bloody notch, colour is spot on and they fit just perfectly, proper high waist, the cut is nice, proper straight leg, super comfy to wear but without the saggy arse crap I've seen some repros have.

I was so impressed that I went online within 5 minutes of getting them and trying them on, and ordered another pair.

I'll endeavour to take some fit photos but the better half is a proper old school Viking and views such requests as "can you take photos of me wearing a pair of pants so I can show a bunch of random guys around the world what my arse looks like in them" as both exceedingly unmanly and unbecoming, so I might have to figure out the timer thingy on the phone and see what I can do.

But needless to say these are bloody terrific strides and if anyone is sitting on the fence about them I'd say go for it.

Very, very highly recommended!

Tim, you just have to do a review.
You don't have to make a Viking woman angry :)I think your phone has a timer function and you can do it yourself. It's very interesting to see how they fit. Photos of pants on the floor are uninformative

I will Dmitry. I'll do it tomorrow as I've just come off night shifts and I'm pretty beat - my first day off them and I'm always a zombie and have no energy. I'll be better tomorrow and the timer function will be employed!

I will say that they are superb pants for the price. Very sturdy and well made too. As I said within 5 minutes of getting them, I'd jumped back on the SoF site and ordered another pair. They'll be my summer trousers from now on.

What would one say about sizing.
I'm 36 waist some pants are ok and others are like a 32 I never know if to go bigger but 38 is just to dam big.

Hi Chris,

I wear a 32 in jeans and got these in 32 and they are great. I'm lean though in the waist and I walk 11 to 12 km every night I work. If you're active/workout I'd go for your normal jeans size, otherwise I would go one size up.

Hope that helps,

Tim

There you go buddy, maybe you can just drop in and try them on.

If you get the right size you'll love them .

Might be a birthday trip out on American independence day.
What else can I get.

The service shoes and rough outs from Sturm-Mil Tec that they stock are seriously good too Chris.

Love my pairs from them and I wear them all the time.

Guys I've done a reassessment...

And yes these are the best pair of all round pants in the world ;-)

Wore them driving in the car, wore them mucking around in the garden, wore them throwing a softball around with the little fella, these are just awesome pants. I reckon I'm going to order a third pair and I've never done that before.

I have a solution :)
Have Viking woman put the pants on and you take a photo of her wearing the pants o_O
Ive never seen a woman who doesn’t want to wear the pants in the family , meanwhile you get to show off your new Chinos , and we get to meet Viking Woman.!
;)
it’s a win win for everybody !!!
Brilliant solution don’t you think ?:)

I bought a Kay Canvas M-41 jacket and a pair of their summer chinos last week via SoF which were delivered yesterday ....after Parcelforce finally got their ****ing act together.

Working from memory of originals of both I've had the repros seem to be pretty good and certainly of service quality. How my Missus did laugh at the trousers, just like she used to do virtually every time I wore originals too - always a good gauge of accuracy ;)
