Funny how it just keeps on going back to 1776, the US Constitution of 1787 and the 2nd Amendment!
One point I'll make (I'm genuinely having a good-natured jab here) is that the a guy I work with, Ken, is from the US and always seems to bring up The American Revolution as a reason for us over here being grumpy or whatever. It's funny because many Brits have absolutely no idea when/what it even is. We've had a thousand (well maybe not quite) wars since then and I think it sort of got forgotten about when we had to give Napoleon a thorough whipping 40 years later. That faded memory was practically eradicated by WWI. In my history classes the American Revolution was about 3 minutes of a 40 minute lesson on whatever happened before we gave it to the Frenchies at Waterloo
