Anyone know how sizing on Sefton A-2s run ?
I wear a sz 40 in ELC house jacket, would a Sefton be equivalent or smaller ?

I always wear a size 40 for my A-2 jackets. I used to own a size 40 Sefton, but it fitted more like a size 38, so unfortunely I had to let it go. Very, very nice jacket but a poor quality repro Talon zipper. But regarding to the measurments given by the seller this is a proper size 40. And IMO this one is in horsehide. Most Seftons I have seen were made in Steer and didn't have the analine finish. The best thing you can do is measure up your own ELC A-2 and compare the measurments to the ones in the Ebay listing.

the only problem i found with them was that they run short on the back length, and this one is no exception as it says:
collar base to lowest part of hem = 23”
for a size 40 it's even shorter than a 38. zip it up, raise your arm and you find the waistband above the belt, or you need a high rise pair of trousers to go with it!
having said that, it squared up nicely on the shoulders (it had short epaulets) with no binding, the collar looked good and it had a collar stand (like this one) which sat nicely with no digging at the back of the neck and no clowning. nice small pockets which were positioned closer to the windflap than other jackets.
i finally let it go as the back was too short and i found the cuffs too long and the waistband too wide but the buyer was extremely happy with it!

If I get it, the short length isn't a problem as I would take a 40 S to 42 S anyway.
The seller told me that this jacket fits like a 40.

Yes, I wear a 42 Reg in Eastman A-2's, and my Sefton is a 44 Reg., and fits pretty much the same.

The jacket arrived in the mail today. Thanks for the help, you were correct on all counts. The FANTASTIC thing is this jacket fits like it was made for me a , a true 40S, with short body and short arms. The shoulders are broad enough so they don't feel restrictive (I have a RMJ in sz 42 that makes me feel like I'm wearing a sausage casing...good thing I bought it for the artwork and don't plan on wearing it all that much). I've been told the Sefton isn't an accurate repro of a WW2 military A-2, but it's close enough, and it's still a real nicely made A-2 inspired jacket. The horsehide is thick and has a good grain to it. If I only had one A-2, I would be okay with a Sefton. The 'artwork' on the back was painted with enamel vs. latex and it's already cracking and crazing, developing aged patina...good thing the artwork was pretty basic cartoon folkart as opposed to the back being used by an artist as a canvas for a highly detailed painting. Overall, I'm pretty happy with this jacket. (minor issue is the patch on the front could be a 1/2" smaller). I'll put a 8th AF patch over the round glue spot and a 48 star flag on the rectangular glue spot.

Thanks for Sefton's address.

I like the first jacket so much, I purchased another Sefton when it came on eBay. I wasn't interested at first because of the 'blood chit' and the moth holes in the cuffs and waistband, but decided to bid when none showed interest in it. It's with the seamstress now having the knits supplied by the seller replaced. (the seamstress noted the seller supplied knits were better than the original knits)
