A RW 18091 goatskin A-2, sz 40, is back up for sale under the heading: "Original World War II A 2 Jacket Rough Wear Contract" .... sorry i cant link to it..a search should bring it up under new listings. This A2 was listed from the same seller fairly recently i believe. The seller says this contract is " super rare" -i thought it was a fairly large contract. The knits, zipper, and leather are described as in " super condition". no bidders yet. Seeing as a Spiewak A2 with replacement knits from US Wings just sold for $1500 i would think this A2, if it is the real deal, should surpass that amount. How does this A2 look to you guys? What would be a good price?

I'm guessing the knits were replaced. The waist knit now has topstitching just above it, which was not done originally on this contract as it was a detail originally done, but seemed to stop with the 1939 contracts.

Thanks for the link. The seller says the knits were WWII depot replaced. With a high quality repo of this contract hitting almost $1600, a very nice, wearable if desired, original for around $1500 to $2000 should be a fairly good deal.

The Spiewak sold for more than it should. It was a decent size and size 40 jackets will usually sell for less. This is not a super rare contract as over 17,000 were produced and being goatskin proportionally more seem to have survived than horse hide RWs. The term "depot replace knits" is over used in auction when in fact the knits were actually replaced much more recently in many cases! The top stitching could well be the work of a modern repairer. I would value this jacket at $1k max and on a good day.
