Right on time for Veterans Day... (and thanks to UPS).

Here is a sneak peek of this grouping that belonged to Col. John "Mooney" Rogers. During WWII he flew with the 365th Fighter Group, otherwise known as the "Hell Hawks".

The Hell Hawks were one of the most successful P-47 Thunderbolt fighter groups of the Ninth Air Force when it came to air combat. They took part in the D-Day campaign, the advance across France, Operation Market Garden, the Battle of the Bulge and the invasion of Germany. The Hell Hawks were the first group to move into Germany on March 17, 1945 at Aachen, and the first to fly a combat mission off a German soil ever!

Rogers had the distinction of landing the first P-47s on German occupied soil. He later lead the very first allied mission flown from Germany.

Thanks guys. This one came directly from the family of "Mooney" Rogers. The group is huge and I'll be taking proper pics soon! There are WWII, Korean and even Vietnam pieces. The jacket of course is the main attraction and wait to see the condition, it could be mistaken for a repro.

Yes, there are probably over 100 pictures (even negatives) from his career. These are some wearing flight suits and jackets. Still classifying here....

Seem to recall a Hell Hawks jacket on Pawn Stars, a G1 I think that turned out to be fake! You're find is amazing though and even more amazing is the family have let it go although I guess there comes a point when needs must or good reasons why. At least its gone to an appreciative fan of such and a lucky boy too!! Enjoy!!!
