PANTHER Tank dealing with the hedgerows in Normandy
On the left 2 pretty rare "SWS" (Schwerer Wehrmachtschlepper => Heavy Wehrmacht Tractor) which have been produced from December 1943 until April 1945 - pretty advanced in technology but too complicated and over-engineered like a lot of German gear during WW2 (and still we Germans tend to "over-engineer stuff)
The SWS was produced in different version - one of them was a fully armoured version with either AA-gun or rocket-launcher "Nebelwerfer"
I don't remember exactly the location of this photo but was taken after the surrender of a whole group of "Jagd-Koenigstiger" at the end of WW2
Buggers have been playing cat and mouse with the RAF for decades. Probing, testing, snooping, irritating etc. Such a common event that hardly ever gets mentioned unless it’s a slow news day.
Can't believe I haven't posted this here before - probably because it hasn't got a military thing to it but...
I've always thought ever since I was a teenager this was one of the "coolest" photos ever. James Dean, the West, boots, jeans and everything all rolled into one.
