I've got buried away a collection of Irvin art that Norwegian airmen had, ranging from names to pictures. I'll see if I can dig it out as it's from an old hard-drive.

The Norwegians flew in RAF and RAF administered squadrons. I have a few pics buried away of Kiwi painted Irvins too.

I’m assuming the RAF were not allowed?

I've seen the odd Irvin and photo of same with names and basic artwork. I think the RCAF were somewhat more free in terms of nose art on BC aircraft and the odd jacket.

What`s that a spitfire Tommy?

It is a Spitfire Tommy

Like hawks in a clear blue sky
Like Hector and Alexander
And heroes of days gone bye
And the gods on Mount Olympus
Or the ghosts on the Plains of Troy
Would only gaze in wonder
At the bravery and the joy
As these two brave young airmen
Reach upward to the sky
I hope there is no winner
And no one has to die

There’s a very lifelike mannequin of Lidya made by Weta Workshop in front of the Yak-3 at the Omaka Aviation Heritage Museum collection here in NZ. The Yak on display is airworthy and has raced for the Full Noise team at the Reno Air Race in recent years
