Questions about G-1 7823 Monarch vs Cagleco contracts

Hello all!

Could someone tell me how these two contracts compare with respect to fit and collar size? I haven’t been able to try either one myself yet.

Also, any fit pictures of these contracts would be most appreciated.

Can’t really comment on the fit but…. IMHO ….. I think the Monarch is more; desirable/better made/ collectable/better goatskin than a Cagleco. But … that’s just my opinion.

I own both a MONARCH as well as a CAGLECO - both in size 46

The CAGLECO fits my body-shape pretty well - but the differences are minimal.

As for the overall impression i think a MONARCH would be more desirable because of the arguments Burt already mentioned.

Well those pics are difficult to compare but anyway:

- the goat looks better on the MONARCH and the mouton feels kinda "more substancial" (difficult to describe)
- i like the fit of the CAGLECO over the MONARCH but that's just my personal preference

Thanks Thomas. Both beautiful jackets however I particularly like that Monarch, really great fit, that's a really special U.S.N jacket, quite a rare one too!

You are right - actually it was my “real vintage” G1 and started my interest in those jackets.

Owned an ORCHARD before but that one was from the 1990ies

Can’t comment on Monarch’s but I have two Cagleco’s, both ironically 1957’s but even then, the fit is marginally different.
Collar size was mentioned in the original post but that’s never a size question I’ve seen before - does/has anyone ever zip up fully or use the under collar button/flap?
Don’t think, albeit I’m sure there exists, pics of flyers using it either?

Please allow me to chime in..
I handle(d) both contracts and Abyss already received photos of the ( now sold ) Cagleco.
Both contracts if from the same date and in similar condition are absolutely great jackets and very very well made..
The Monarch is a bit heavier and its collar is a bit stiffer… so is their goatskin.
The Cagleco‘s are lighter and more souple to wear.. they drape much better than the Monarch‘s and are less „ boxy „.
The liner in the Cagleco seems ( no central seam) to be less „ plastic „ like as for the Monarch.. hence a better quality.
For me .. 10/10 for the Cagleco .. 9.5/10 for the Monarch… same condition.. same age..
Note all my Cagleco‘s are sold.. I have no G-1‘s to offer right now…
Hence just my 01cent input.
