Hi to everybody! Recently acquired this vintage Lewis Leathers jacket with a big usa patch on the back. A couple friends told me it could be from the 60's and worth a lot. Could someone kind enough help me with dating and evaluation of the jacket? would really appreciate it. Photos are attached. Wishing the best to everybody

Hi
Welcome to VLJ , and thanks for your post.
I’d be happy to share what I know about your jacket . It’s a typical motor cycle touring jacket that was made around the late 80s to 90s and from the label it was made in the UK. The flag on the back looks to have been added to the jacket at some later time . You can see the stitch lines going through the inner lining of the jacket rather than under the lining. As far as value..,. Probably about $100.00 -$120.00 on today’s market would be a generous estimate. Others will join the conversation and may have differing opinions.

Agree with what Peter says, the wife picked up one a few years back for about £100 70’s/80’s jacket. Ask over at the Fedora Lounge, they are more into Moto jackets generally and there’s likely a lot of knowledgeable Lewis fans. Flag & patch as said reduce value. Lewis are a friendly lot, might be worth sending them a couple of photos and see if they can date it. This could be one for eBay.

Could have been worth a couple of hundred pounds, but the addition of the patches knock the value right down.the stupid position of the patch on the front makes me think it could be hiding some damage also,
Agreed. I don’t understand what makes someone spoil a perfectly good jacket by adding these patches. Because it’s such a personal thing unless you happen to come across a like minded person it really can only devalue said jacket if it is ever sold.
If something is needed to cover up some damage a straightfoward leather patch of a matching colour is the way to go. It’ll be less obvious and look like a battle scar, as well as adding some character.
