Please school me on sheepskin

I’m not sure any of us really wears these jackets for practicality - even if you can make a case for it. They were practical for what they were designed for in the past but modern materials are much more practical now. We wear them because we like the look of them.
I wear my sheepskins all the time for nighttime walks. They are much warmer than my Patagonia puffer. I haven't bought a Canada Goose like Smithy yet. I know that one is much warmer. But the M-444A is quite practical and super warm. Usually I don't bother to add an extra layer over my shirt even in slightly sub-freezing temperatures. I probably would have argued against practicality when I just had a B-3 and B-6, but now I have seen the light.

I love my shearling, which are all from Aero. I also had some from 5*, which weren't bad, but the fleece was nowhere near as good as the Aero ones. There's a reason why I don't have 5*, but still have all the Aeros.
The leather of the shearling is quite thin at 5* and the fur is not very dense. This means that the jackets are less warm than they look. But my experience was two or three years ago. Perhaps it has got better in the meantime.
