Paypal Nincompoops

I just had to use this word as it's so appropriate to describe the idiots who work at PAypal who reply to any enquiry about account problems etc. I've just started to have trouble receiving the last two donation payments for the Crabtree A-2- Steve and Grant weren't able to send me funds for some still unknown reason.

I asked Paypal to look into it and gave them all the details, and what transpires is that you are evermore drawn into an idiotic one way discussion, with each email to them trying to describe in very basic terms what the problem is, it's history and with the big question at the end is it going to be fixed.

Each time you get a reply from some other different individual, and each time you reply becoming more frustrated and trying to contain youself.

Take this for example- an email I sent last night and todays response- I think this guy is number 4 in the chain so far. I must add that today we did have some success is getting the money through, but there was no confirmation from paypal that the problem had been fixed or what has caused it. Hilarious but such a waste of time.

It's a long story but this is the last bit I got from them;

This is my second last reply to their earlier responses, frustration is starting to show through from their dumbass replies.... :twisted: :

"Thankyou for this advice. I will forward this message to the other
party, however I do not agree with your assessment and believe there
must be some other problem with my account and that I can't receive any
payments for several reasons;
- the person sending me the funds wants to send me the money- I did not
request it and they provided me with the email address so one would
assume that it is the only valid email address. As I mentioned I will
forward your comment just in case he has two addresses but I doubt it.
- I cut and pasted their address so it is exact and I have double
checked it.
The other person has tried to send funds to me at my registered paypal
address on numerous occasions with no luck. Again it was cut and pasted.
- My original question highlighted that I had a similar problem at the
same time with another person trying to send funds to me from the UK, in
no way associated with this recent event, which indicates that there is
something amiss with my account.

I would appreciate if Paypal could suggest something other than the
email addresses are not correct or that the other parties may not be
providing full disclosure as I know that I can trust them that they are
sending funds and that the address I have given them and that they have
given me is correct. I would like to think that this may be the only
problem, however I suspect that there is something else wrong. It makes
me wonder if it may be possible that the account may have been tampered
with in some way?

Please try to find another solution to this situation as it is becoming
very frustrating.

Thanks
Andrew "

And this is what I got back;

"Dear Andrew,

My last reply was to the point- tell me what is wrong and please fix it.

That sounds like pre-cooked response #2 to me. I suspect they have approximately three dozen such 'canned' responses, and just cut-n-paste their 'best fit' canned response to a query rather than doing any real investigation and meaningful response.

In my experience, even after you get past the stage of receivng these prepared responses, and start getting individual responses, the answers you get are irrational and unhelpful.

Perhaps if you treat this as a 'transaction' and put the onus back on PayPal - say that you've provided a service for intangible goods, and have spoken with the other party and confirmed with them that they've attempted to send the funds, but that you've not received funds - so where is my money?

"Nincompoops"? You're being much too charitable.
No, no, I like it, especially if they are called Jaypee, and deliver lines so totally beside the point, as quoted: typically nincompoopish! It fits perfectly and is a nice way to channel frustration. Good for you Andrew!

I must confess I've never heard this term before (my italian-american wife never called me like that , so far :D )
For the not english mother tongue, from the Wikipedia:
Nincompoop

A nincompoop is an English term usually meant to describe a person who is silly, foolish, stupid, and/or useless.

The actual origins of the term are unknown, but some people speculate that it was coined by British playwright William Wycherley in 1676.[1] Other people believe the word stems from the Latin phrase 'non compos mentis', i.e. 'not of sound mind.'[2]

In 2007, a survey among 2000 Britons revealed that nincompoop was the nation's favourite word out of 16,500 entries in the Cambridge Dictionary.[2]
