About a month ago PayPal informed me I'd reached their arbitrary $ 10,000 dollar spending limit and I would have to now link PayPal to my bank account or get a PayPal Mastercard. My PayPal account had been linked and paid through my existing bank credit card and I never had any problems, so I was unsure why they had a $10,000 limit for all PayPal users.
After looking over the options given for their online forms, I decided to get the PayPal Credit Card, it was simpler and not as invasive...why on god's green earth would I want to give PayPal access to my bank account user name and password !!! The PayPal credit card was activated and I went about my merry way for 2 weeks, paying for my eBay purchases.
A couple days ago, I received an automated PayPal security message that my account had suspicious activity (buying a leather flight jacket ?) and my Ebay account would be suspended until I could resolve the problem. Fine and dandy...I'm good with them tracking suspicious activity. When I asked them about the suspicious activity they said my bank account hadn't been 'confirmed', I stated I chose the PayPal Credit card option and not the bank account option. They stated in order to resolve my identity, PayPal would need me to send them...a photo ID, my bank account number, four other 'identifiers' and again asked me to give them all my banking information; my banking user name, password, etc. ARE THEY FRIGGING NUTS ???. I tried to explain to the PayPal person that I already spoke with the PayPal Credit Card people who told me there were no limitations on my account and I would not under any circumstances give them access to my online banking accounts. (btw-This was through PayPal's website, not a phishing link). The PayPal person I was dealing with basically said if I didn't want to play by their rules...too bad, there were no other options. I told them I refused to give them personal financial information and to go pound sand.
So no more Ebay for me because I can't pay with PayPal...this isn't necessarily a bad thing for me, as I was accumulating too many flight jackets anyway.
