I rarely post there, nowadays. I guess life moves on, and a change of job means I'm way busier than I used to be generally, and we moved to a house that's turned out to be a far bigger project than anticipated.
Former long-time TFL lurker here as well, Sloan. VLJ for life for me at this point, beautiful bunch of gents here.

1 caveat - your bank balance may drain a little with flight jacket temptations.

Indeed! JC's been in touch, so all's good. We've been chatting about a combat clone, on and off, for something like six years and I finally got around to flogging an old jacket to fund it. Good to see you're all alive and breathing!

That's the one to go for. It's the closest a repro will probably ever get to an original.

All the originals we had at the aviation museum I worked at had pockets sited half an inch or so higher or lower than the other side and the pocket flaps were slightly different sizes and shapes from each side. That's combined with the obligatory wonky stitching in places.

The laser accurate repro isn't like the real thing for the most part.

Joking aside...

I used to dangle around Le Salon du Chapeau but gravitated here and much prefer it. But that's probably also due to my interests being more in the military side of things.

As mentioned lovely bunch of fellows here (for the most part).

Feeling here is more like a club than a discussion board which I like.

BTW Sloan, what contract?

I've got a place which came up a year or two back but as I'm off jackets until I wear something out/lose something I told John and he said to just give him a bell when I'm ready.

When I am it'll be a Poughkeepsie combat clone ;)

Almost certainly an Aero 21996, though I'm intrigued by John's Cooler King repro, too...
