I found it at a prominent dealers table at the Pamona California show. The jacket is in excellent condition. The patch represents VMO 6th Observation squadron which was first formed in the 1930’s during the banana War period. It was disbanded and re-formed in 1944, and flew numerous missions during the Battle of Okinawa. The squadron was active through the Korean conflict and into VN period, but used a different patch design. The jacket is named both on the leather name tag and neatly stamped inside the collar. This model jacket was used for a short period, and was introduced in 1944 as a four pocket variation on previously issued models. It has a nice Talon brass zipper. It is really tough to find WWII patched Marine and Navy jackets so I had to jump on it.
