OBOY, my two GW Goats came in!!! Perry and Dubow

I am just so excited, my two goat skin Goodwears came in and they are stellar. Pics
to come later but as far as I can tell they look as tho they just came off the machine from
Johns shop!!! Both are 46s one is a Perry and the other is a Dubow 27798.
The Perry is a little different the Dubow is just gorgeous! A reddish knits and a tan colored
stitching.
I also can see some more differences in the quality factor of the Goodwear to the USA HH.
The Perry has a collar stand and so does the USA, but the USA is so thick it kind of rolls over where
the Perry lays down as you would expect. Just outstanding.
I want to thank the sellers who were just outstanding. I dont know their
forum name so I wont mention their real name but it was a great deal and the lady
tried to refund me $2 on shipping!!! Just a sweetheart deal.
I want to thank them very much. Pics to come later tonite.

Hey Paul,
Do you know which goat skin was used in your "new" jackets? The older goat John was importing from France or the new Indian goat? I have one of each and they are quite different from each other. Curious to get your take on them.

I had a US Authentic very briefly about a year ago before I flipped it quickly. Too heavy and stiff for my liking, especially compared to my GW jackets. Chalked it up to a learning experience.

Just like Xmas all over again :D

Der, I dont know maybe you can help me out. Here are some pics.

This is the Perry Details are the rounded collar corners, stitching and knits the same color of the goatskin.
Is this French or Indian??

This is the Dubow, my favorite of the two Goatskins. I love the Reddish Knits and the Stitch color
Can anyone tell if this is Indian or French. There is NO appreciable wear on either jacket

This is my GW Star Horsehide I got from Bman2. Love this coat.

This is the USAuthentic. Noticeable things that dont make it a $1550 jacket but still nice.

This is the collar on the USA it has a collar stand and you can tell it doesnt sit well as the Perry which has a collar stand
I think the HH is too thick on the collar.

This is the Isratex Aramid I picked up for $23 thanks to a co member here

The first one looks more like the French goat. Tough to tell on the second one. The French goat has a much more uniform, more highly pebbled appearance to it. The Indian has finer pebbling and it has some randomness to it. Hard to describe, but when you see them both side by side, much easier to see.

US Authentic def has thicker HH, and this shows up most with the collar as you pointed out. It will probably never lie down properly.

I love CWU jackets. I have several of each of the 36 and 45. Nice and practical and can be bought cheap if you catch it right. Isratex has an interesting corporate history with the pricipals being indicted for defrauding the fed govt, providing goods not up to spec, etc.

Fun hobby and it looks like you're enjoying it!

Thanks Der,
I got the CWU for free. When you are a DOD scientist you can just go down to DRMO
and get what ever you want. I dont know what DRMO stands for.
So you think the Perry is French? I bet both jackets were purchased close together in time
but I am just guessing.
might as well put my B3 in here. The sheep on this is alot different than the GW goat,
I thought it might be similar but not even close.

Goats and B-3s don't mix. Shearling and HH! I have the same ELC B-3 I bought from John last year. It is hotter than hell in all but the coldest temps.

It gets into the 30's here and my place in the mountains gets 400" of snow a year.
Its perfect up there. It can be 20 up there and I can walk around in my B-3 and a Tshirt
and be really comfortable.

DRMO-Defense Reutilization and Marketing Office. Hell of a nice collection you're amassing there. What year and manufacturer is the CWU?

Sorry about that, I love that Jacket!!

Mikey I couldnt believe this but I got that CWU a decade ago. It has the pilots name in the
back and its a ISRATEX too! Just like the one I just got from ArmyGear.net!

That looks like an older GW Perry hide and collar pattern - did you say it was made in 2011?

Doc,
John got back to me and told me both were made in the 2009 time frame.
He also said the Perry is Indian Goat and the Dubow is French Goat.

That makes more sense - the colour/knit combination didn't look right for the later pattern.
The knit supplier has changed in that time frame too.

There are some small differences but the coat on the site is fairly close to the one I have.
The Knit is closer than the Dubow is.

*That's* a U.S. Authentic? I'm suddenly re-thinking them! Do they have a premium line I don't know about? Is that a specific contract repro? It sure looks good!
