Burt, I think originals especially rare ones need to be preserved, I've seen as bad as this and worse been sold on fleabay and other sites as is or projects
Preserved for display. These kinds of jackets (WW2 US shearlings) can't be worn as you know. They will just fall apart. I have my own B-3 that I repaired a small shoulder tear the same way. Yours is a pretty major project though. I left the original Talon zipper broken as is because it's not going to be worn anyways.

That looks like a good product. Many of us use Pecards or just vaseline in extremely light coats over the leather .

That are the cheapest wannabe talon zippers on fleabay around. If you seriously planning to restore this jacket please give it a zipper that is worth it

Just try this product for your jacket we use a lot on dry leather at the shop.
