Greetings All,
I just received my newest GW A-2 yesterday and as usual it is outstanding! Since the release of Gary Eastman's book and the re-confirmation that some A-2's were actually cowhide, as many suspected all along, John decided to make a sample of his "Acme 21996" (Aero) contract from some seal cowhide he had in stock. It came out fabulous. Dark seal with Aero Red knits, it has a copy of a Crown zipper with an original puller. This hide is a bit heavier than your standard A-2 weight horse, but is very soft and comfortable. The finish is shiny at the moment but should dull quickly, and the lighter under tones are already becoming apparent. The knits are rusty red, not near as bright red they appear in the following pictures. Here's the link to John's pictures, he's much better at it than I am.
