Prefer this colour on the shearling than the earliest version which appeared a bit whiter.
Is this for a customer or a project? Just found it as Type D-1 on the list. VERY nice D-1!
I purchased John's test D-1 referred to above. It's still on John's site under "Sold Items Knopf D-1". The fleece is indeed much whiter in appearance than this new model. Can't believe I purchased it back in 2010, but that's what the dates on John's images show. Great jacket here in Chicago in the winter months. John used the original zips and the label and buckle from a jacket he de-constructed to learn how to make a D-1. John did a great job with the cut on this one as it fits much better than another one I have from Real McCoys.
I really like this jacket. I have a B-3 that GW made but even in New England I got 2-3 hours of use last winter. I think I would use a D-1 or B-6 a lot more.
Mr. Good Wear himself took the time to write to update me on the situation and sadly the jacket is off to a happy home. Just have to find out the Grid Reference of said home, lifestyle patterns and then WHAM! Mine!!
I had a ripper RMNZ years ago and offloaded it after a couple of years in Townsville. Think it was to someone here via eBay.
I love the look and feel of the D-1 over the B-6. The B-2 has paid for itself this winter; however, I think that being a Groundcrewman (until 16 Jan 15 that is) I need to resupply.
Aero or Knopf? That is something to work out down the line. Think I need to pounce while this shearling is around, or accessible.
D-1! De-lish!
Oh! That MASH A-3 cap is darker than the NOS HBT coveralls. It is now nearly as white as the T-shirt...
MGC replica M1928. Bought it from a mate when 'we' could buy them over the counter as teenagers. Now you need a Collectors Licence with a Category R endorsement, Form 31 deactivation certificate (despite it NEVER being able to fire).
While I did get rid of the D-1 and I admit to being a bit of an idiot for doing so (that pic was taken in the tropics with around 75% humidity) I am not a total idiot and the Thompson is neatly packed away for safekeeping.
Anyway, back to the jacket. Absolutely awesome item and I am getting set to commit.
