Maquire is usually pretty reliable, I wonder how I missed this in the past, 25 years ago this book was a "bible"

I wonder if the jacket is a Type B-10 fitted (aftermarket) with a label such as this ................

over the years we've probably fitted a dozen or more "borrowed" or doctored or "strategically damaged" labels to replace missing original labels on behalf of customers on relines, etc.
Something like this replacing a lost original would look very convincing.

There are a few hiccups in Maguires books

Yeah, me an Ken discussed that earlier in the thread. I guess when it was first published American Flight Jackets was fairly unique? But he clouds things himself by refering to both M442a and G1 as the same jackets for example.

I observed that this new Aero B-10 has pockets that are sewn a bit further away from the waist knit than other repros and some of the original photos I can find. Is this an Aero style or are there original B-10s with "high" pockets?

But your point about the exact spec numbers is still interesting, I just mearly wanted to make sure you knew about the earlier discussion. I come here, probably like all the regulars to learn about the small details.

I think this is just an Aero interpretation. I suspect whoever drew up the pattern decided to move them up for practical reasons?

The pockets on the originals were all over the place, height wise, we've been trying out various heights on the test samples, all within original tolerance.
We'll decide in the next few days what the final production gap between pocket and waistband will be. We won't be influenced by any other makers repros however

My personal preference, is for the pockets to be closer to the waistband.

Whatever the finer points of pocket placement may be (and personally, I like the "higher" arrangement), this looks to be a really nice jacket. The darker colour looks particularly good.

I hope that it gets into production in time for the autumn or winter.
