Beautiful jacket, too. Once of the nicest contracts.L.W. Foster 55J14 for sure - short torso, big square shoulders.

You know me too well Jan...One of those would look great with '40s/'50s-cut selvage jeans and a pair of engineer boots.
Time to put down a fresh deposit with J.C?I do like that very much. Thank you gentlemen, much appreciated!
It's an iconic look. You know me too well Jan...
I've actually got a queued deposit with John, but I've changed my mind so many times what I want, he's probably completely bemused with me but always a joy to work with and so helpful.Time to put down a fresh deposit with J.C?
+1 on the Foster. That's honestly the only thing that came to mind for me.Need we say anymore, @stanier? I think you might have found what you were looking for!
And if that wasn't enough, here's more:
Also just got my hands on an original L.W Foster from the early 50’s. I wear a 44 and it measures 25.5 back length, so even the later models are short enough.I've actually got a queued deposit with John, but I've changed my mind so many times what I want, he's probably completely bemused with me but always a joy to work with and so helpful.
What are my chances of finding a mint and clean (none smelly!) of these L W Fosters 55J14 original in probably a size 40?
Cheers

They can definitely be found without too much hassle Stanier!
That’s in lovely condition, leather looks super supple and glows! Funny, that’s exactly the same 2134 contract as mine. Leather on mine is perfect but SUPER dry, still working on it to get it just right.vintage USN G-1 flight jacket MIL-J-7823 (AER) LW Foster Sportswear size 40 | eBay
The jacket was made by L.W. Foster Sportswear Co. The jacket specification number isMIL-J-7823 (AER) and the contract number is DA-36-243-QM(CTM)2134. The jacket windflap is punched with tiny holes that spell out the acronym USN (for U.S. Navy).www.ebay.com
This one caught my eye. Who knows what the cost of getting it to the states would be, but that isn’t a bad price for a jacket that looks to be in great condition.
Snap, that’s right that’s their last one wasn’t it? My bad, mine is the penultimate contract!Contract from 1958-1959. That one was the subject of a lawsuit, L.W. Foster v. U.S.
