I don't think it's a Willis & Geiger because of the hanger tab. W&G always used a loop, I believe.

Sorry to disappoint you Platon, but this is not a Cable. It's a smallish Poughkeespie. It has the large ring snaps, typical Poughkeepsie leather, which resembles goatskin in places yet is hh, which has been stitched with olive green thread. The pockets are very similar to Cable's, but they are still typical Poughkeepie. The knits are replacements.

I don't think it's a PK because of the epaulet stitch pattern, which looks more cable than pk
and because the hanger is wider on the PKs and is installed with boxy X-Box stitches and not rectangular and longer like this one.

the pocket reinforcement stitching is the same in both contracts

Where do you base your opinion that it's a PK? besides the OD thread ? (Cables didn't have OD?)
I am curious because if it's a PK I don't want it

It's most certainly a Poughkeepsie. Cables never had large ring snaps or greenish thread, but Poughkeepsies did. You do see differences between Poughkeepsie A2s as it was a very large contract. this one has the typical epaulets, not those with elongated box stitching typical of Cable. Moreover Cable A2s were usually a lighter russet than this one. I have owned many and seen many more Platon.

Then perhaps I should show you 2 that you have not seen.
BOTH have the large ring type snaps, (I can't tell about the thread)
BOTH have the same epaulet stitching like the ebay jacket, and not elongated like the other Cable contracts, and
BOTH are darker like this one. I can tell one was a depot re-dye but the other one looks like originally dark.

Please stand by for the photos

Cables had either nipple snaps or medium sized ring snaps-never large ring snaps.

You must have found a unique Cable or a miss tagged jacket form another maker then. I have seen a few where the wrong label was sewn when they were refurbished or by a later owner who knew nothing about contracts.

The one you have bought is NOT a Cable, but a Poughkeepsie.

The one you have bought is NOT a Cable, but a Poughkeepsie.

We seek it here, we seek it there,
Those Greeks seek it everywhere.
Is it in heaven? — Is it in hell ?
That damned, elusive Pimpernel ..oops sorry Poughkeepsie.. oops sorry Cable

Platon, these pics are of a refurbished Poughkeepsie with the wrong label attached. I'll post some pics of a Poughkeepsie compared with a Cable in a few minutes.

and what is the jacket in the second pic?

I agree this is a Cable. Some of the first contract jackets had the large ring snaps, although many had nipple snaps. However the Ebay jacket is not a Cable.

I have a small doubt about the ebay jacket not being a cable. There is a small detail apparent in cables that the ebay jacket is missing.

unfortunately I don't have any more photos of cable 23382

OK did a little more research and now don't have the small doubt anymore.

I am aware that the23382 had the longer stitch epaulets like ELC does it and as per your original, but the japanese owned jackets in these photos have the same details with the ebay jacket...
