So my latest correspondence with John Chapman has been phenomenal. Never spoke with him before but I am starting my own military leather jacket company and needed some advise. John’s emails to me were no less than 8 paragraphs full of his advice and knowledge. Couldn’t believe at first that i was talking to THE John Chapman. Super great guy and very personable. I may be a future customer of his leather jackets myself.

Buying from him was extremely nice as well. I just asked about the size of the Doniger that was offered on TFL and he was super helpful

Think it's around 14(ish) months P-47, so I dare say you'll be hearing from John soon.

Anyone do feel free to correct me if I might have that wrong!

I'm a little shy of 12 months myself. 27752 also on the cards!

That vertical stitch line on the left pocket makes me curious. I have the same thing on my b-10. I don’t see any purpose for it and wonder why it’s there?

Yep, it’s part of the construction of the pencil pocket. Pretty much only Gordon & Ferguson and Foster had them.

Pretty much a slot. Some early ones had a sleeve inserted into the pocket though.

That is 100% 1940's U.S.N goatskin, perfection.

Can someone who has a jacket in this hide tell me how supple and how thick it feels in hand?

I think I can come close, Abyss.

I have a Star 55J14 from John, goatskin from the same tannery and it is what I'd call mid weight, feels just right. VERY supple but this new stuff is a little stiffer to start out with.

This stuff I believe Is slightly heavier still as well, so I'd say it'll be really nice. Not heavy but not light that's for sure.

I think this new goat will work well on an A-2 as well as the navy jackets in honesty.
