iron it on a low setting and use a brown paper bag between the iron and leather.

And iron the back side....not the front of the collar. It will tend to curl towards the side you iron.

Thank you for your comments on the collar i got an interesting message from buzztowers on the collar and he showed me some great pictures of original dubow contracts that some of the G.I wore and as i said to John i do think it gives the jacket more character imo but if i do decide to iron them i will do so as said. ;)

+1 for leaving as is however if you do decide to attempt to straighten it I'd be more tempted to wet the collar, not a full on saok, and gently curl it the opposite way, you'll have to repeat that several times, the curling not the soaking, but persevere and it will straighten out some. That has worked on pocket flaps for me in the past. Ironing sounds like a dangerous prospect

I would go with the soaking and leave the iron in the closet. Even better yet I would take John's advice.

Great advice!...but me..I'd leave them just as they are. :|

i wore the jac with the collar turned up. when you do that, you will see that the "curl" of the lobes make sense. never, ever wear with the collar folded down.....imho. btw: wearing the collar turned up is a good habit for those of us that have originals. it saves the collar from wear and tear. ditto when storing away.
