Museum of the Pacific War and some jackets...

I went to the National Museum of the Pacific War yesterday -

http://www.pacificwarmuseum.org

I'm very fortunate, in that it is just about an hour and a half drive from my house and I'm able to visit a couple of time a year. Some of you may have seen the picture of "Tex" Hill's jacket that I posted in another thread ( http://www.vintageleatherjackets.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=13008 ), but here are a few other bits on exhibit. First, in keeping with the forum topic, the jackets.

The presenters are a varying bunch, from a retired USMC Col. to regional ROTC members to general enthusiasts. Yesterday afternoon's gig fielded active Marines stationed near-by and was attended by a few WWII veterans.
I'm especially glad to have this museum and the Lexington close by, as the PTO just doesn't get the popular recognition it deserves. Save for a few of the bigger pieces ( aircraft, armor...), it really stands up to the Nat'l WWII Museum in New Orleans, especially considering it covers only the Pacific and some CBI.

You know what? I took pictures with my phone of all the display descriptions, just in case such a question should arise. Except that one. Sorry, man.
I do know the cabinet in which it is displayed contains CBI items, so I guess it's a matter of narrowing down who flew 29s out of China.
I'll double-double check my old pictures and see if I didn't happen to snap one of that display on a previous visit.

I stayed in Fredericksburg a number of years ago. I didn't even know the museum was there until I got home. Man, I was gutted. Love the unrestored Wildcat.

Hellzapoppin'...

Well, like I say: the place is just a hop, skip, and a jump away. I'll definitely be up come the holidays if you guys can keep it together for a few.
Here -
Look at this until I get back. If you stare long enough, you'll see an airplane:

^^^^^^

The tank in the pictures is operational. Inside the museum, on static display, is another Stuart. It was part of an Australian unit and took a hit to the front right quarter. Accompanying the display is a video of the driver describing the incident years later; harrowing stuff. Unfortunately, since he's speaking Australian, you have to watch the video three times to begin to understand what happened...*

Oh yeah, definitely looks like it. M3-A1 version, if I recall my nomenclature correctly. You can tell by the rounded turret and non-sloped front end.

It was part of an Australian unit and took a hit to the front right quarter.

Yet it still has U.S.A. stenciled on the hull? Or is that just how it was restored?
