Is there some rule on Tumblr about never showing more than ONE picture of any given person or thing?

It's frustrating, because I am otaku, not some bubble headed hipster with the attention span of a goldfish in a blender. I want in-depth coverage, not a flash of something I'll never see again, followed by a flash of something else I'll never see again.

And only the cool kids get to comment. It's a virtual circle j--k.

It is a little irksome, I'll agree. In addition to your lament: it seems like, often times, the best visual discriptor of that thing your looking for ends up being a pic on somebuddy's Tumblr site. Then, that's it. No whys or wherefores...
I'll say, though: you have to admit, it's quite the sociological berometer. Have you had reason or opportunity to talk at length or even be around a group of folks under the age of thirty for any time in the recent past*. It's like giving the television remote to a two year old. And it's not just hipsters, babe. You wanna wake up in a cold sweat tonight? Consider this: they're not called hipsters for nuthin'. That's the "cutting edge", man. Just the opening salvos...
And I'm pretty hip, I like to think, and not much older than the majority of the offending crowd, but just as the world is getting smaller, so too is time compressing. And being that, in terms of a comfort level, most people aren't that adaptable, the next few years are going to see social disconnect - dischord - like never before.
Eeesh - but you've activated one of my favorite tirades. Really, though, I likes me some Tumblr, sometimes, as I'm a pretty visually oriented person, it terms of concocting some elaborate story around a pic out of time, so... You know, who needs all those distracting FACTS? Get outta here you old fuddy duddy.

*( Waaaaaayyyy off topic, but I remember reading a coupla years ago, that's how the movie St Elmo's Fire came to be. Joel Schumacher [ murderer of Batman ] was eavesdropping on a crowd of recent college grads in the Balto/DC area. He couldn't get over the totally self-absorbed nature of their conversations, and so the impetus for such a collection of deplorable characters. You and I both know, though, this conversation is as old as Methuselah, who must have looked like he had a palsy, shaking his head and rolling his eyes at generation after generation of biblical hipsters... { pant, pant... I need to occupy myself with something...} )

Holy smokes! Until recently I still had my father's denim fatigues from boot camp at March Field, California, 1942. Naturally, not appreciating them, I tossed them two moves ago.

But, to show how naive my old man could be, he thought we still wore denim blue fatigues when I went through boot camp at Lackland in 1985.
