Recently completed my second size 46 AN-J-3A Monarch restoration. During this process I was pleasantly surprised to find that each of the two jackets were in fact built using different patterns. All in spite of the fact that both jackets are from the exact same contract.
Besides the more obvious difference of the two jackets having been being built with different types of hide, I found that darker of the two jackets was in fact built using the earlier M-422 design.
A win win from my perspective. This restoration process enabled me to better proof my USN Monarch repro patterns. While also recreating another fine original occasional wearer.
Really lovely work Dave. How lucky are you that you get to wear your restorations!
BTW, the Church M422a restoration you did for me several years ago is still going strong.
