M-1951 Parka Real McCoys VS Buzz Rickson

Ordering from within Japan. Both are expensive ; anyone have experience with the M-1951 Parka?

haven't done either of them, but I have handled Gizemo's, which is more reasonably priced and VERY well done.

Thanks- The general consensus used to be that Real McCoys is/was slightly better. I am not sure if this perception still hold true.

TBH, I don’t know that much about M-1951 parkas specifically, but I think there are pros and cons of dealing with either of those two companies:

• I find RMC’s use of branded hardware when they could be using authentic zippers and snaps annoying. I’m a bit of a zipper nerd though.
• According to one of our members, Buzz is mostly made in China. That doesn’t diminish their quality, but it means that they’re much cheaper to produce than the price tag would suggest.

With all due respect.. why a repro?
Originals are still plentiful available.. all sizes.. and they pick up value.. repros are repros..
IMHO.

I hear they were plentiful back in the 1960s; maybe the M-1951 less so than others. In X-large sizes are almost impossible to find in Asia.

They are very oversized though (designed to be worn over all other uniforms), especially if you intend to wear them without the liner. An M is easily a regular XL.

RMC , their older products are very well made.
Their current products, one of the best is their AL-1.
Their M51 parka is not as good as AL1.
If you are not keen to a RMC parka. BR is better choice. Pay much less money for it.
