It really is strange. I think I remember him buying my Rolen B-15D and another nylon jacket from me. He bought them at my BIN price and haven't seen them for resale and that over a year ago. It does make me wonder why someone even lists items when they are price WAY over current market values.
My theory is that it's one way to showcase your collection while ostensibly offering it for sale. But to my mind the prime motivator is the collector's desire to show everyone that he has it and you do not . . . and the only way to make this seller part with the item is if the buyer grossly overpays. Sorta like the Zillow "make me move" approach to selling your home (you list your house at whatever price you wish -- the market notwithstanding). Plus now they're the big ballers with the million dollar collection. Did I tell you guys I have a million dollar Eastman jacket collection -- if I can find 4 people to pay 250K for each of them! See . . . now you're thinking "gee this guy has four Eastmans." In truth I've bought 4 and sold 4 all for way less than 250K.
. .
This seller Aviation Etc from Toms River NJ bought two repro A-2's from me on Ebay, doubled the price then rolled them back to his Ebay page. . . albeit six months later. Compare also Snyder's Treasures. These guys must get a thrill when someone bites hard on an item.
